Helps Ministry“for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me” The PurposeOur purpose is to follow God’s precepts as he has given them to us. Jesus said, "The first of all the commandments is: 'Hear, O Israel, the LORD our God, the LORD is one. And you shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.' This is the first commandment." And the second, like it, is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no other commandment greater than these." There are times in our life that we all require help for one reason or another. Here at the Barn, we minister to those God brings into our path as the Lord provides. This is a natural result of the Holy Spirit working in the body of Christ. The NeedsThe physical needs of our family here at the Barn are no different than anywhere else. Until our daily basic needs are met, it is hard to concentrate on spiritual things. It’s clear that people don’t care how much we know until they know how much we care. By helping meet the basic needs (ie. food, financial, physical, and visitations) we can show the love of God. By loving our neighbor as our selves, we are following God’s second commandment. Vision to meet the needsThe vision of this ministry is to show God’s love to the Body by reaching out to those in the Body in need of help, materially as well as spiritually. To have a network of volunteers available for a variety of needs including but not limited to: food, meals, rides, visitations (home and hospital), Communion, repairs (home and auto), phoning, landscape, cleaning, certified nurses assistance, sending cards, and most importantly, prayer. Mission StatementTo serve the body of Christ with the gift of helps and servanthood as God provides. Matthew 25:34-40Then the King will say to those on His right hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.’ “Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You? Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’ And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’” Want to be a part of a ministry? |
